Abstract The goal of this research is to develop flexible and low permeability materials that can be used to package thin film solar cells in a R2R process. The program will utilize barrier films from 3M (research and commercial) and edge seals while developing a range of barrier adhesives that are compatible with R2R processing. We will utilize high throughput accelerated testing of the packaging materials at NREL to screen the stability and overall performance. In the program, we will utilize the screening of Ca samples as a surrogate for thin film cells since this testing to help select the best packaging materials. Finally, the materials will be integrated with thin film PV cells to demonstrate their performance
